Why the Thunder Sound TS118 Subwoofer Is Ideal for Professional Sound Systems
Learn how the Thunder Sound TS118 Subwoofer can add deeper bass, stronger musical impact and a more complete listening experience to professional PA systems in Kenya.
The Importance of a Dedicated Subwoofer
A professional sound system must reproduce the entire audible range with clarity and sufficient power. Full-range loudspeakers handle vocals, instruments and high-frequency detail, but they may not always reproduce deep bass with the force required for large venues or energetic music. The Thunder Sound TS118 Subwoofer provides a dedicated low-frequency solution for users who want stronger kick drums, fuller bass lines and greater overall impact.
Its 18-inch bass speaker is designed to move a large amount of air, helping audiences feel the low-frequency energy of music and live performances. This makes the subwoofer a practical addition to church systems, DJ setups, event production equipment, clubs, conference halls and live band installations.
Powerful 18-Inch Bass Performance
The 18-inch format is widely used in professional subwoofers because it offers the cone area needed to reproduce deep low frequencies at useful sound levels. The Thunder Sound TS118 Subwoofer can strengthen the lower end of a PA system, creating more weight and authority in recorded music, electronic beats, bass guitar and live drums.
This extra bass support also reduces the workload placed on the main speakers. Instead of asking full-range cabinets to reproduce every frequency, the system can direct the deepest bass to the TS118. The top speakers then focus on vocals, instruments and high-frequency information, which can improve clarity across the entire sound system.
Where Can the Thunder Sound TS118 Be Used?
The TS118 is suitable for many professional audio environments that require reliable and powerful low-frequency reproduction.
Mobile DJs
Adds the bass impact required for weddings, parties, corporate functions and entertainment events.
Churches
Supports worship music, keyboards, bass guitar, drums and recorded programme material.
Live Bands
Helps reinforce kick drums and bass instruments during live performances in different venues.
Event Companies
A practical low-frequency solution for conferences, concerts, outdoor functions and public events.
Matching the Subwoofer with the Correct Equipment
A professional subwoofer must be paired with a suitable amplifier and correctly configured signal processing. The amplifier should provide appropriate power without being pushed into clipping. Distorted amplifier output can generate excessive heat and place unnecessary stress on the loudspeaker components.
A crossover or loudspeaker management processor is also important. It separates the low-frequency content from the rest of the audio signal and sends it to the Thunder Sound TS118 Subwoofer. The remaining frequencies are directed to the full-range speakers. This helps each speaker work within its intended range and can produce cleaner, more balanced sound.
Subwoofer Placement and Sound Coverage
Placement can significantly affect how bass is distributed throughout a venue. Positioning the TS118 on a stable floor usually provides better results than placing it on a weak or vibrating platform. Depending on the venue, users may place the subwoofer near the centre of the stage, beside the main speakers or in a grouped configuration.
When two or more subwoofers are used, they should be arranged carefully to reduce uneven bass coverage. Incorrect placement may create areas where the bass sounds too strong and other areas where it becomes weak. Professional technicians may adjust delay, polarity and equalisation to align the subwoofer with the main speakers.
Benefits of Adding the TS118 to Your PA System
One major advantage of adding the Thunder Sound TS118 Subwoofer is the improvement in overall system balance. Audiences can hear vocals and instruments more clearly while still experiencing the depth and energy of the music. This is particularly valuable during live performances where different instruments must remain defined at higher sound levels.
The TS118 also makes a PA system more flexible. A single subwoofer may support smaller indoor functions, while additional units can be included for larger events. This allows rental companies and mobile entertainers to adjust their equipment according to the size of the venue and the type of programme.
What to Consider Before Buying
Before purchasing the Thunder Sound TS118 Subwoofer, consider the size of your venue, the number of full-range speakers in your system and the type of events you normally handle. A church, mobile DJ and nightclub may each require a different number of subwoofers and a different amplifier configuration.
You should also plan for suitable speaker cables, signal processors and transport arrangements. Professional subwoofers are larger than standard speakers, so event companies should consider vehicle space and handling requirements. Choosing the complete system carefully helps protect your equipment and ensures dependable performance.
